Johnetta “Jett” Lake
Biography/Profile

This North Carolina native, raised in New Jersey and New York, is a graduate of New York’s prestigious American Academy of Dramatic Arts, earning a degree in theatre and makeup.  Johnetta, affectionately known as Jett is an actress, singer, and comedienne.  She has been the voice on commercials and has done standup comedy; performing at such notable clubs as Caroline’s and Stand Up NY.  As a writer and producer, she has starred in her one woman show based on the life of the legendary Dinah Washington, which debuted in New York and will open in Atlanta in the fall of 2010.  Johnetta performed the role made famous by Tony Award winner, Nell Carter in Ain’t Misbehavin’ at Atlanta’s 14th Street Playhouse.
Jett was a recording artist in the UK for Phonogram Records, the London Division of Polygram Records. She has a strong musical theatre background having worked with such industry icons as Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber, Hal Prince and Galt MacDermot, the composer of “Hair”!

Award shows like the Grammy’s, Emmy’s and the Tony Awards are part of her.  She jokes that the Oscar’s are on her “to do” list and with this kind of passion, there’s no doubt that she’ll accomplish that too!  She is a writer, producer, director, vocal coach and has even done some public relations.  This business is in her blood and she knows that the best is yet to come.

Jett is also passionate about the beauty industry and knows what it takes both on and off stage.  She is a makeup artist, hair stylist and image consultant and is the President and CEO of her company, Transformations,  an image, etiquette and style enhancement firm that does amazing before and after makeovers!  She has worked with many of the most prestigious cosmetic companies including Lancome, Ultima II, Estee Lauder, Guerlain, Bobby Brown, Iman, Fashion Fair, Flori Roberts, Shiseideo, CLARINS, Mary Kay, IL-Makiage,  and CLAIROL as well as in the entertainment industry and Fashion Week for 7th on Sixth!  Jett has been a buyer for several top salons.  Models, actresses, and performers are among her valued clients who rely on her advice and expertise to enhance their own appearance.  She’s absolutely thrilled about her latest career move as Radio Talk Show Host.

In addition, Jett is a Master Cosmetologist and Skin Care Specialist and has been a faculty member at New York’s Barbizon School of Modeling & Atlanta’s John Robert Powers where her production and singing teams have won international competitions on both coasts!  She has had several beauty and fashion articles published, writes a monthly beauty column, is a motivational speaker and is currently working on 2 books, a new makeup/beauty DVD, television show, and is launching a cosmetics line.
Jett will be conducting hands-on beauty workshops/seminars across the country.  Don’t miss her when she’s in your town, you’ll have a ball!

She lives in Atlanta with her husband Sidney and their awesome daughter Sydney.  It’s obvious that it takes two Syidney’s to keep up with her.
