Two Talk Books
STARLA FAYE |
|
 |
Starla Faye has a tremendous love for books and the people who write them. She is an avid reader who has been drawn to books and the adventures they bring since early childhood. Speaking of childhood, Starla Faye was born and raised in what was then called South Central Los Angeles and reading books became one of her favorite pastimes. Her exploration with books exposed her to people, places and things she had never seen nor experienced before.
At the tender age of 13, she fell in love with the writings of the great Sidney Sheldon. She has every book he’s ever written. She remembers her English teacher, Ms. Rosen, calling her out during class when she was in the 7th grade for secretly reading in class. After class, Ms. Rosen made her stay so she could see what she was reading. Well, it was The Other Side of Midnight by Sidney Sheldon wrapped in a brown paper bag book cover that she made; hoping to not attract any attention. Needless to say, her efforts were futile — can you say BUSTED! Well, as luck would have it, Ms. Rosen was a fan too and only asked that Starla Faye would let her read the book when she was done.
As time would have it, her love for books continues until this day, as she reads not only for personal pleasure and insight, but for personal and professional development as well. All genres of books interest her, especially auto-biographies and stories of triumph and redemption. Self-help books are a mainstay in her library and she believes in exploring other cultures, the world and life through books. Starla Faye believes a mind that’s closed to understanding and insight outside of our own individual experiences, thoughts and beliefs is an underdeveloped one. She also believes people can learn to be more loving and accepting without judgment if they would simply read more.
Starla Faye is a publisher who provides self-publishing services to her clients. It has be an amazing ride since establishing the publishing company six years ago and every publication allows her to journey to new places that introduce her to experiences she has never had before like when she was a child.
She wears many hats that require her to impart wisdom and knowledge to others. This new adventure will no doubt afford her the same opportunity as she herself is still learning and looks forward to seeing where this walk of faith will lead.

Annette Britton, author of 5 Black Women, Inc. speaks about her life’s journey. How it has never been a straight line; instead, it has dipped and curved, filled with experiences that crash against each other and pull away - experiences that share few similarities on the surface. For example, there's the time in 1970 when carloads of Mennonites helped build her inner city Chicago home; and the time when she was a child and her mother breathed life into a frozen puppy; and, of course, the day her brother won the lottery and changed her family's life forever. All of her stories cause her to think deeply about who she is and what she wants to offer the world. Connect with Annette at fiveblackwomen
