Celebrate Motherhood: Why Reading Daily is Essential to Self Care and Other Straight Talk

As moms, we often hear about the importance of taking care of ourselves, like going to the spa, getting a manicure or buying that  new black dress. What we hardly every hear about is the importance of reading to renew our minds (mind food).
In this episode, I invite you to explore the idea of embracing a daily reading habit that encourages high vibes and good thoughts. I share some of my favorite titles:
You Can Have It All and Date Night, Too {How to Reclaim Your Life as a Mom} by Malena Jackson
Ask and It is Given by Esther and Jerry Hicks
As for the straight talk, I spill the beans about how I REALLY felt when my dad did not walk me down the aisle. My advice to Meghan Markle: Life Goes On!

Examining Cultural Etiquette and Old School Manners in the Modern World

Do good manners and being kind go hand in hand?
As a parent, it is important to exhibit good manners in the presence of your children. Good manners are truly awesome traits to have. When you practice good manners around your children, they in turn, pick up good manners. Say goodbye to having to “teach” your children how to treat others or how to behave.
In this episode, I talk to ViKi Keshishyan, owner of Universal Etiquette about how to relate to other cultures, the authenticity of saying hello to people and the importance of R-E-S-P-E-C-T! ViKi explains that parents will need to teach their children how to write thank you notes + how to behave on social media since those behaviors don’t come naturally. However, ViKi confirms what I've been saying all along: your good manners will transfer to your children and how respect for one another is THE key factor.

Home Organization Tips for Moms + Dads

Wherever you are, STOP and take a look around. Is there a sense of order where you are?
Whether your home is organized, in complete chaos or a little in between, today’s show is for you! Organization is a HOT topic here at Family Planet365. In today’s episode, we’ll talk to Robyn Reynolds from Organize2Harmonize about how to get and keep our space nice and tidy.
Robyn has been professionally organizing for 10+ years and shares her TOP 5 ways to keep your home in order:

1. Create some sort of system. There is no right or wrong way. Do what works for your family.

2. Never apologize for your space not being tidy. It is your home and there is no reason to apologize for the state that is in, especially for moms with small children :)

3. Everything should have a home. Big or Small create a place for your items.

4. Label your containers. If your children are too small to read, use pictures of the items that belong in that container. Having your small children help with putting things away gives them a sense of responsibility and order.

5. Don’t save unused items hoping to use it “someday.” Life is now. If you’re not using it or can’t fit it, get rid of it.

Hosting an International Student in Your Home, What to Consider First

Summer 2018 is right around the corner and for some families, it’s the perfect time to host an international student in your home.
In this episode of Family Planet365, we’ll talk to Wendy Hidalgo from Oui Connect, an international student exchange program about the process of hosting an international student in your home + what to expect from the experience.
According to Wendy, the program model through Oui Connect is solely based on relationships and families genuinely wanting to host a student. In other words, this is not a way to make money on the side or to supplement your income. In fact, hosting an international student does require time to get to know the student and family, beforehand, patience and good communication skills.
