Dore E. Frances, M.A., Therapeutic Consultant

Dore Frances
is an accomplished, passionate therapeutic consultant and advocate. 

Through her company, Horizon Family Solutions, she provides advocacy services, therapeutic consulting and coaching services to a rapidly expanding roster of clients in the U.S., Canada, Europe, Australia and the U.K.

With a diverse background, Dore is uniquely qualified to understand the lives, needs and challenges of a wide range of families and troubled teens. 

In her early years Dore spent time running her family’s veterinarian practice and doing corporate training and marketing work in Silicon Valley during the dot-com boom.

However, her passion has always been children and families. Currently, Dore has completed a 50 page booklet of programs and residential treatment centers that work with families on limited incomes. This booklet is located on her TroubledTeenHelp.com website under Our Store. She is also is nearing completion of a new booklet that provides families with a Home Contact for those needing additional assistance with their pre-teens and teens at home.  In August she will be releasing an Advocate Journal covering all types of programs and services available all across the United States. 

The meticulously-researched writings and releasing of information shows the comprehensive resources obtained by Dore over her 17 years as a therapeutic consultant.

It has always been important to her to stay current with addiction, learning disability, residential and therapeutic wilderness treatment programs available in the U.S.  

Her clients range from age 8 to age 58. Dore visits and reviews all programs before accepting them as a reference or referral for her clients. An active speaker, presenter, certified coach, educator and columnist, Dore has won numerous professional awards for her work, including awards from CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates).

Of Dore’s accomplishments, she is especially proud of her experience as a monthly columnist for The Teen View in the Family Resource News (Monterey, CA), her current widely-distributed newsletter, her acceptance into the American Bar Association (even though she isn’t an attorney!), and an article published in Seventeen magazine in June 2008.

Dore has an A.A. in Business Administration, a B.A. in Fine Arts, and an M.A. in Child and Family Studies. Along with her degrees she continues her education yearly in the areas of addiction, adoption, holistic treatment, learning differences, pregnant teens, pre-teen needs, reactive attachment disorder, wilderness programs as well as adult services.

Originally from the San Francisco bay area, Dore now lives in Oregon. 

She has a grown daughter who resides in another state and enjoys her live in Oregon along with two cats.  Dore spends her free time doing art projects, creative writing, gardening, horseback riding, learning about people in different cultures through traveling, and generally enjoying the beautiful outdoors.

Angie Senic Shockley has worked with at-risk children for most of her career. In her current role, Angie works on program development within Eckerd, always looking for new opportunities for the company to grow in regard to outdoor treatment.

Angie is currently serving as a member of the boards of directors for both the National Association of Therapeutic Schools and Programs (NATSAP) and the National Association of Therapeutic Wilderness Camping (NATWC). Angie lives in the mountains of WV with her husband Matt and four children, Sarah, Michael, Clay and Bode.  In her spare time, she enjoys living and working on a farm where she and her family raise beef cattle and horses.  She also enjoys singing, playing piano and guitar, fishing, hunting, golfing and riding her horses.

 Dr. Andrew D. Sapp, Ph.D., who is the Founder & CEO of Cherry Gulch, a high quality ranch-style therapeutic boarding school for 10 to 14 year-old boys.

Dr. Sapp is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and a well-rounded clinician who has worked as a therapist at a therapeutic wilderness program for 11 to 13 year-old students, a locked inpatient psychiatric hospital where he was the lead clinician on the adolescent unit and also worked on the pediatric unit, as well as two community clinics, an elementary school, and an inner city group home for foster boys. Dr. Sapp was also a Naval Lieutenant and therapist at a military hospital. Dr. Sapp started his career as a coach, camp counselor, and mentor and later worked at a youth correctional facility with youth as young as 12 years-old. It was here that he developed his passion for working with youth and particularly for early intervention and prevention.

Florence Crittenton is a nationally recognized Montana non-profit specializing in therapeutic residential services for pregnant and parenting young women, ages 12 to 21.

Since 1896, the Florence Crittenton Home in Montana has maintained a strong tradition of caring for pregnant and parenting young women, serving over 15,000 women and children.
