Live LA Saturday Night

DAVID HERNANDEZ

David Hernandez

David was born in Los Angeles in 1948. He is an American of Mexican descent and likes to say he is from the “Land of Lincoln”, that is Lincoln Heights. Being from an upwardly mobile family, the Hernandez family moved to North Hollywood in 1953.

David’s father’s occupation was listed as “Banana Loader” on David’s birth certificate. Though education and hard work, David’s father became the Vice President of a Major Trucking Insurance Company and then the Owner of his own Independent Insurance Adjusting Company.

Although both parents were of Mexican descent, the language at the Hernandez Household was English.

David attended local public schools in the east San Fernando Valley and upon graduation from Poly High School he enlisted in the United States Navy. It was 1967 and David is a Combat Vietnam Veteran.

David returned to North Hollywood after the service and soon entered the Family Adjusting. David worked as a licensed independent Insurance Adjuster for 25 years, with 10 years operating his own company.

David first entered the political world in 2002. After learning there had been no Republican Candidate for Congress in his district in 8 years, he made the trek to the Registrar-Recorders Office and the rest is history.

David was the Republican Nominee for the 28 Congressional District in 2002 and 2004. He was unopposed in the Primary and earned the ability to vote in Republican Party of California and Los Angeles County. He became a member of the Republican Party of Los Angeles County Executive Committee. In 2004 David was an associate delegate to the Republican National Convention in New York.

David has also been a candidate for Los Angeles County Supervisor and Mayor of Los Angeles.

David received National notoriety for his efforts to keep the Cross on the Original Los Angeles County Seal; an effort which began at the Kenneth Hahn Building in Los Angeles and went all the way to the US House of Representatives.

David also led the Legal Challenge to Proposition R, the Los Angeles Ballot Measure which gave City Council members an extra four years in office.

David gives back to the community in many ways. He is the President of the Foundation Board of Los Angeles Mission College and sits on the board of Youth Services Network.

David is an issue orientated conservative Republican. Even his detractors agree; David does not give up and does not shy away from a fight!
